C.S. Lewis, Screwtape, and the Simpsons?!

An interesting C.S. Lewis site, currently serving up snippits from The Screwtape Letters [with Homer - not the Greek poet]: Mere C.S. Lewis.

  1. Thank you so much for the link. I really enjoyed posting snippets from the Screwtape Letters and I have no idea what I made the crazy decision of illustrating them with pictures of Homer Simpson! But it kinda worked, I think. At least it made it interesting. I was looking for a way of illustrating all the various moods and actions of the "victim" as described by Screwtape. I thought a cartoon character would give me a library of pics. When you read the book, the jury is still out on this man the demons are scheming against, we don't know how he will end up. Likewise in The Simpsons, the jury is still out on Homer. Just when we think he's going to be good, he does something stupid. And just when we're ready to give up on him, Homer comes through and saves the day. Anyhow, enough rambling, thanks again for the link :)

For an update I just finished working through Book 1 of Mere Christianity (cool pics, but no Simpsons), August 19 to September 3. And I'll be starting a mini series on one of his essays this Sunday.

    Mere C.S. Lewis
